This research entitled “The Analysis of Economy Potential In Banyuasin Local Regency Pasca New Town In Town From Musi Banyuasin Local Regency”. The economy criterion used in this research are based on economy criterion according to PP No. 129/2000. This research aimed to analyze the potential of economy in Banyuasin local regency for 2 periods: before the new town in town (2000-2002) and after new town in town period (2003-2006). To explore the sectoral potential of gross domestic regional product that potentially to develop is by using Location Quotienst (LQ) analysis to shows the components which affect the value added of gross domestic regional product in Banyuasin local regency with Shit-Share analysis. The result of Location Quotient and Shift-Share research shows the sector that potentially to develop and able to improve the value added to economy growth in Banyuasin local regency are, agricultural sector, trading sector, hotels and restaurants, and processing industry. Based on this research, it is recommended for govemment to support those potencial sectors by giving bigger allocation of funds, and other acceptable facilities to improve the conducive condition. Thus, the potential sectors could be develop, and thereafter, could be increase the local income.
