The main object of this research is to analyze the causal relationship between government Expenditures in education sector and economic growth in South Sumatra for period of 1994 until 2005. The data used in this study are secondary data. By using Granger causality that formulated in a simple regression equation, the result of regression shows that there are indeed two causative directions between government Expenditures in education sector and economic growth in the period of the research. It can be seen from the result of two regressions which if economic growth is a dependent variable, coefficients for causative direction are not zero and the statistic grade F are bigger than F grade table. and if government Expenditures in education sector is a dependent variable, coefficients for causative directions are not zero and the statistic grade F are bigger than F grade table.
