This research aimed at describing imblance and classification pattem of an agricultural sector and their implication for interaction among counties and cities in South Sumatra. The data covered the period of 2000 - 2009. This research analyzed the data using Williamsons Index, Classen Typology, Scalogram Method, and Gravitation Model. The research results show that imblance of sector among counties and cities in South Sumatra was common. It was found by the application of Klassen Typology that counties such as Ogan Komering Ulu Timur, Muara Enim, Musi Banyuasin, Musi Rawas, Banyuasin, Ogan Komering Ulu, Ogan Komering Ilir experienced rapid progress and growth. Lahat and Empat Lawang Counties and Pagaralam City also made rapid progress in term s of high incomes but experienced slow growth. Lubuk Linggau City was also a region that made rapid progress. Cities such as Palembang and Prabumulih and counties such as Ogan Komering Ulu Selatan and Ilir Timur made relatively slow advance and growth. The scalogram and gravitation analyses showed that three counties: Ogan Komering Ilir, Musi Banyuasin, and Banyuasin, each with their hinterland, were growth regions and Palembang City became their growth center. At the second layer, Ogan Komering Ulu, Prabumulih, Ogan Komering Ulu Timur were the growth region and Muara Enim their growth center. The third layer covered Musi Rawas, Pagar Alam, Lubuk Linggau and Empat Lawang, and Lahat constituted their growth center.
