lnequality is a development problem that cannot be eliminated, especially in developing countries. This study aimed to calculate the level of inequality in the area of Indonesia and to analyze the influence of independent variables GDRP per capita and investment on regional development disparities in the Indonesia in the period 2001 to 2008. This study uses secondary data consists of data coherent with the time from 2001 until 2008 which was obtained from Badan Pusat Statistik South Sumatera (BPS), Badan Koordinasi Penanaman Modal (BKPM). This research method are Williamson Index counting the imbalance of regional economic development in Indonesia during 2001-2008 and multiple linear regression method Calculation result showed that disparity of regional economic development in Indonesia by natural oil and gas still high which is 0.8 J and without the natural and gas is about 0,84. The highest disparity inter-state (province ) in indonesia with natural oil and gas was clearly seen in Kalimantan Island which is 0.86. The lowest is in Sulawesi Island with 0.22. The disparity inter-state in Java island without natural oil and gas become the highest one with 0.87 and again, 0.22 in Sulawesi island is the less in the disparity interstate without natural oil and gas Based on the independent variables of GDRP per capita and investment regression, it was negatively injluence or significantly not influence the disparity interprovince in Indonesia
