Assessment of financial performance is very important activity, both for the company and the investors. The development of the financial performance of a company can be determined from the financial statements, therebefore, needs to analyzed to measure the financial performance PT Smartfren Telecom Tbk. This analysis is done by means manage financial data in the form of balance sheet and income statement by using the method of Du Pont. Du Pont system is comprehensive because i t inc ludes enterprise-level efficiency in using its assets and measure the level of corporate profit. This research was conducted to determine the factors that cause PT Smartfren Telecom Tbk to suffer during the period 2008 - 2012. Based on the analysis and discussion, it is known that the factors that cause company loss during the period 2008 to 2012 is the excessive expenses of the company, the addition of total assets which led total expenses increase and low percentage of Profit Margin (PM). In addition, the losses suffered by the company i s also due to the company's sales is not maximized, i.e. much smaller than the company, total assets. In the end it causes low level of total assets tur n over (TATO).
