Background : Soil Transmitted Helminths (STH) infection is a main problem in the world especially in tropical regions such as Indonesia. This infection can be transmitted by eating raw vegetables that contaminated by STH. This study was aimed to know whether there was a contamination of STH eggs or not on edible raw vegetables at street food stalls and restaurants in Kelurahan Lorok Pakjo Palembang. Methods : This research was a descriptive-observational study. Samples of edible raw vegetables were collected from 18 street food stalls and 14 restaurants in Kelurahan Lorok Pakjo Palembang. The samples were examited with sedimentation method and observed with microscope. Results : There were 80 samples consisting 30 cabbages (Brassica oleracea L.), 18 basils (Ocimum sanctum), 30 cucumbers (Cucumis sativus L.), 1 lettuce (Lactuca sativa L.), and 1 eggplant (Solanum melongena L.). From 80 samples, there were 20 (25%) samples that positively contaminated by STH eggs consisting 8 (10%) cabbages, 8 (10%) basils, 4 (5%) cucumbers, and there were not STH eggs contamination on lettuce and eggplant. From 20 samples that positively contaminated by STH eggs, there were 12 samples from street food stalls consisting 5 (10,6%) cabbages, 6 (12,8%) basils, and 1 (2,1%) cucumber. Meanwhile, other 8 samples from restaurants consisting 3 (9,1%) cabbages, 2 (6%) basils, and 3 (9,1%) cucumbers. Only unfertilized Ascaris lumbricoides eggs decorticated were found in all samples consisting 9 eggs in cabbage, 16 eggs in basil, and 5 eggs in cucumber. Conclusion : There was a contamination of Soil Transmitted Helminths eggs on edible raw vegetables at street food stalls and restaurants in Kelurahan Lorok Pakjo Palembang.
