ANALISIS PERILAKU KESEHATAN TENTANG COVID-19 TERHADAP MINAT BERHENTI MEROKOK PADA PEROKOK AKTIF DI KOTA PALEMBANG
Background. COVID-19 is a disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 virus which became a pandemic in early 2020. In contrast with it, smoking is a known risk factor for COVID-19. According to the Ministry of Health, an active smoker is a person who regularly consumes cigarettes even though it is only one a day. Changes in smoking interest among smokers during the pandemic are very likely to occur. This has prompted the researcher to conduct a research to find out whether knowledge, attitudes, and practice about COVID-19 can generate interest in quitting smoking among active smokers. In addition, the researcher wanted to find out which health behavior variables about COVID-19 had the most dominant influence on the interest of smoking cessation among active smokers in Palembang. Methods. This is an observational analytic research with cross-sectional research design. The method used multistage random sampling. Data analyses were performed using univariate, bivariate (chi-square test), and multivariate (binary logistic regression) methods. Results. Respondents consisted of 298 active smokers in Palembang. Most of them are interested in quitting smoking, have good knowledge and positive attitude regarding COVID-19, and practiced COVID-19 precautions on a daily basis.
