HUBUNGAN TINGKAT PENDIDIKAN DENGAN TINGKAT PENGETAHUAN KANKER MULUT PADA MASYARAKAT DI KELURAHAN DUKU KOTA PALEMBANG
Background: Oral cancer is rank worldwide as the eighteenth most diagnosed cancer amongst all cancer types. Based on Basic Health Research 2018 data, the incidence of oral cancer in Indonesia was 5.6% of all cancer cases. Lack of knowledge and health literacy regarding oral cancer, especially risk factors and symptoms of oral cancer, is one of the main factors of the high morbidity and mortality rate due to oral cancer. People’s knowledge of oral cancer could be affected by formal education level. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between formal education and knowledge level about oral cancer among people in Palembang city especially Duku district. Method: A cross-sectional study design with an observational analytic method was done. 150 respondents aged at least 17 years old and lived in Duku district Palembang city were involved. 30 close-ended questionnaires were used and filled via google form. Data were analyzed using chi square test. Results: 47.33% and 42% of respondents had a sufficient and low level of knowledge about oral cancer.
