HUBUNGAN PENGGUNAAN KORTIKOSTEROID PADA PASIEN SYSTEMIC LUPUS ERYTHEMATOSUS TERHADAP KEJADIAN KATARAK DI RUMAH SAKIT MOHAMMAD HOESIN
Background. Cataracts are clouding that occurs in the lens of the eye due to lens hydration, protein denaturation, or both. Cataracts can occur multifactorial, one of which is the use of corticosteroid drugs. Systemic Lupus Erythematosus is a disease that uses long-term corticosteroids as a treatment option. The increasing number of SLE sufferers will increase long-term use of corticosteroids, so it is feared that the incidence of cataracts will increase. This study aims to determine the relationship between the use of corticosteroids in patients with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus and the incidence of cataracts at Mohammad Hosein Hospital. Methods. This study was an analytic observational study with a cross sectional design. This data was taken from the medical records of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus patients at Mohammad Hoesin Hospital for the period January 2019-December 2019. Results. Of 198 cases. There were 37 cases (18.7%) had cataracts and 161 cases (81.3%) had no cataracts. All patients with cataracts used corticosteroids for ≥12 months.
