Critical patients who are admitted to the ICU are given analgesics and sedatives to reduce pain and agitation during treatment. There are no data on the characteristics of analgesic and sedative use in critical patients, so researchers are looking for the characteristics of analgesic and sedative use in the ICU Dr. Mohammad Hoesin. This is a descriptive observational study with a cross-sectional design. This study analyzed 111 treated patients who met the inclusion criteria. Results: Of the 111 patients treated in the ICU Dr. Mohammad Hoesin, the average age of patients admitted to the ICU was 50 years (medical) and 55 years (surgical), 56 female patients (50.5%) and 55 male patients (49.5%). Patients requiring sedative and analgesic therapy, patients with long length of stay and use of mechanical ventilation, patients with a SOFA score of 19 and a high Charlson Comorbidity Score, namely tracheostomy patients, patients with GCS level of consciousness 2), namely Ramsay 3 in 41 patients (36.9%).The analgesics that are widely used are paracetamol (66.1%), morphine (38.7%), fentanyl (45.2%), and ketorolac (11.8%). The sedatives used were dexmedetomidine (43.6%), propofol (36%), midazolam (29%), and ketamine (3.2%).
