Background: Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS) is a group of eye- and vision-related problems that related to near work, experienced during computer use. One group that potentially experienced CVS was student. Associate’s degree students in Computer Science Faculty of Universitas Sriwijaya have courses or practicums that require the use of computer that cause longer duration of computer use which increase the risk of CVS. Therefore, this study aims to indentify risk factors of CVS among associate’s degree students in Computer Science Faculty of Universitas Sriwijaya. Methods: This research is an observational analytic study with a cross sectional design. Proportionate stratified random sampling technique was applied to select 96 study respondents that fulfilled the inclusion and exclusion criterias. Data were obtained from a self-administered questionnaire via google form. The data which were collected then analyzed using the Chi-square to assess the association between the risk factors and CVS. Results: The prevalence of CVS was found to be 63.5%. Frequent blinking and burning were the commonest symptoms of CVS. The results of the Chi-square analysis found that women (p=0.045), wearing glasses (p=0.007), duration of computer use > 2 hours per day (p=0.001) and rest frequency > 20 minutes (p=0.012) were significantly associated with the incidence of CVS. Logistic regression analysis found that the duration of computer use per day (p=0.012; OR=4.157) and wearing glasses (p=0.035; OR=3,218) were the factors that most influenced the incidence of CVS among associate’s degree students in Computer Science Faculty of Universitas Sriwijaya. Conclusion: The risk factors that were significantly associated with the incidence of CVS among associate’s degree students in Computer Science Faculty of Universitas Sriwijaya were women, the use of glasses, the duration of computer use > 2 hours, and the frequency of rest > 20 minutes of computer use.
