KARAKTERISTIK PASIEN BENDA ASING GIGI PALSU DI ESOFAGUS DI KSM THT-KL RSUP DR. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG PERIODE 2017-2020
Backgrounds. Esophageal foreign body is a foreign object that is swallowed and stopped in the esophagus. Swallowed foreign objects can include food, fish bones, plastic objects, metal objects, and dentures. Lack of patient awareness about the need for routine examinations and replacement of dentures or adherence can be the cause of the loss of dentures resulting in ingestion of foreign bodies of the dentures. So that knowledge regarding the characteristics of foreign body denture patients in the esophagus as a prevention is needed. Methods. This study is a descriptive study with a cross-sectional design, namely one-time data collection with secondary data in the form of patient medical records from January 2017 to June 2020. Results. 30 patients with foreign body dentures in the esophagus 2017-2020 period were sampled for this study. The majority of patients were male amounting to 21 people. The largest age group is 56-65 years. The anatomical location of the foreign denture is mostly found at a distance of 17 cm from the incisors which is the location of the first narrowing of the esophagus. The foreign body shape of blunt dentures is more common than that of sharp dentures. The foreign body size dimensions for dentures are most often 3x2 cm. Snagging sensations, dysphagia, and odynophagia are the most common symptoms for patients. The majority of patients did not experience complications and the procedure performed in all patients was rigid esophagoscopy. Conclusion. Based on the study, it can be concluded that the characteristics of patients with denture foreign bodies in the esophagus at ENT Department RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang period of 2017-2020 is mostly male, the largest age group is 56-65 years, the most common location is 17 cm from the incisor, the shape of the blunt foreign object is the most, the dimensions of the size of the most foreign objects are 3x2 cm, the most common symptom was the sensation of being stuck, the majority of patients had no complication and all procedures performed on the patient were rigid esophagoscopy.
