Solid medical waste is solid waste consisting of infectious waste, pathological waste, sharps waste, pharmaceutical waste, cytotoxic waste, chemical waste, radioactive waste, pressurized container waste, and waste with heavy metal content. Solid medical waste contains various attenuable chemicals that are infected with the hepatitis B virus, hepatitis C and the HIV virus. Solid waste treatment does not only stop at the culling or burning of solid waste in the incinerator, but we also need to focus and pay attention to how safety of the waste results. The research is a descriptive study with qualitative research with a discussion room for the activities of Minimization, Sorting, Reserving and Collection, Transportation, Destruction and Processing, and Laboratory Tests for Metal Content of Cd, Pb, Zn, Cu and Cr. Research informants were 7 people, namely the Performance and Sanitation Coordinator, Performance and Sanitation Expert Staff, Incinerator Chief Officers, and 4 Transportation and Solid Medical Waste Management Officers. Research results obtained from the activities of Minimization, Sorting, Reservoir and Collection, Transportation, Destruction, and Processing have been carried out previously in carrying out the storage activities, requirements for anti-puncture supported by the Republic of Indonesia Minister of Health Regulation No 7 of 2019. Test results of Cd, Pb, Zn, Cu and ash combustion incinerator prior to storage and after storage for 18 days exceeds the quality standard set by Permen LH No. 56 Year 2015. The results of the ash incinerator test that exceeds the quality standard provided by heat absorbers are less than optimal. Medical solid waste management activities at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang has been carried out but the implementation has not been optimal, so it needs to be carried out consultations, incinerator maintenance on a regular basis and needs to be reviewed about the distribution of data with gray.
