HUBUNGAN KELEBIHAN BERAT BADAN DENGAN ANGKA KEJADIAN GASTROESOPHAGEAL REFLUX DISEASE (GERD) DI PUSKESMAS ARIODILLAH PALEMBANG
Introduction. Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a pathological condition caused by reflux of stomach contents into the esophagus with various symptoms that arise as a result of involvement of the esophagus, larynx, and airways. There are several risk factors for GERD, one of which is obesity or overweight. The high prevalence rate of excess body weight in Indonesia is accompanied by a causal relationship with GERD, it is feared that the prevalence rate of GERD will increase. This study aims to analyze the relationship between being overweight and the incidence of GERD. Method. This research is an analytic observational study with a cross sectional study design using primary data from the Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease - Quiestionnaire (GERD-Q) questionnaire conducted in November 2020-January 2021. The research samples were patients or visitors at Puskesmas Ariodillah Palembang who fulfill the inclusion and exclusion criteria using consecutive sampling technique. Result. From 84 samples, it was found that the incidence of Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) experienced by patients and visitors at the Ariodillah Health Center was 29 people (34.5%). It was found that 50 samples (59.5%) of 84 samples were people with BMI overweight and 34 samples (40.5%) with BMI were not overweight. 29 people (34.5%) were found to have a GERD-Q score ≥ 8, those were of 23 people (79.3%) overweight and 6 people (20.7%) non- overweight. The data is made into a 2x2 table which is then performed the Chi-Square test. The result was p = 0.007 (
