The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of group counseling using short film media on ethics in student communication at SMP Negeri 9 Palembang. The method used in this research is pre exprimental design with one group pre test and post test. The population in this study was 32 students and a sample of 10 students based on purposive sampling. Sample selection seen from the level of ethics in student communication is low. The tool used for data collection in this study is an ethical questionnaire in communicating students. Data analysis technique is to use the T-test. Treatment or treatment is given 3 times at each meeting using different topics. The results of this study indicate that there is a change between pre-test and post-test. Before being given treatment, the score was obtained with a pre-test average of 74.2 with the Low (R) category. meanwhile, the average score becomes 96.6 with the High category (T) based on the results of the post test after the treatment given to 10 students. This shows that the treatment has an influence on ethics in student communication. From the results of the data analysis, it was obtained t-count 2.26 and t-table in a significant level of 5% ie 2.262 so it can be concluded that t-count> t-table then H_0 was rejected and H_a was accepted namely group guidance using short film media influenced the ethics in communicating students.
