FAKTOR-FAKTOR PENYEBAB KEJADIAN CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME (CTS) PADA PENDERITA CTS YANG MELAKUKAN PEMERIKSAAN DI LABORATORIUM ENMG RSMH PALEMBANG
Background: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is one of the most common compression neuropathies in upper extremity. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is caused by compression in the nerve passing through carpal tunnel, the median nerve. The pain that come along with tingling sensation, numbness, and weakness in the area innervated by median nerve are the common symptoms in people with CTS. Since the symptoms could affect daily activities of people with CTS, it is important to know the risk factors of CTS. This study aimed to know the risk factors for the incidents of CTS. Method: The type of this study was observational analytic with the cross-sectional study design. Sample of this study was patient who did examination in ENMG Laboratory of RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang and the data was collected in the period of October to November 2020. Result: There were 35 patients included in this study and 42,9% of them were patients with CTS. The study results showed that there was a significant association between sex and CTS (p-value=0,024). There was no significant association between age and CTS (p-value=0,365). There was a significant association between BMI and CTS (p-value=0,017). There was a significant association between work and CTS (p-value=0,011). There was no significant association between DM and CTS (p-value=0,700). There was no significant association between RA and CTS (p-value=0,565). There was a significant association between wrist injury and CTS (p-value=0,026). Conclusion: Factors that significantly associated with CTS are sex, body mass index, work, and history of wrist injury. Keywords: Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, CTS, risk factor
