Background. Osteoporosis is a musculoskeletal disease characterized by reduced bone mass density (BMD) as evidenced by a T-score less than -2.5 and changes in bone structure, causing bones to become brittle and break easily. Knowledge of the risk factors of osteoporosis is important in order to assist both in making a diagnosis and in preventing efforts to avoid clinical and economic consequences. Based on this, researcher is interested in researching the risk factors of steoporosis, especially in patients at the Rheumatology Polyclinic of RSUP dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. Method. Descriptive observational. The data were collected by tracing the medical records of osteoporosis patients who were treated at the Rheumatology Polyclinic of RSUP dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang from January 2020 - August 2020 followed by interviews with patients. The sample of study were 30 patients with osteoporosis who fulfilled the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data analysis used Univariate test with the help of SPSS software. Result. The incidence of osteoporosis at the Rheumatology Polyclinic of RSUP dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang from January 2020 - August 2020 occurred at 20,3%. Distribution of osteoporosis patients is mostly in the >65 years age group (50,0%), female (90,0%), has moderate education level (60,0%), normal nutritional status (BMI 18.5 - 22.9 kg / m2 kg / m2) (46,7%), less exposed to the sun (66,7%), does not consume glucocorticoids (53,3%), menopause (90,0%), does not consume coffee everyday (96,7%), does not have smoking habits (96,7%), and have comorbid diseases (86,7%). Conclusion. The risk factors for osteoporosis found at the Rheumatology Polyclinic dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang is old age, female sex, less exposure to the sun, and menopause.
