GAMBARAN PERSEPSI NYERI LEHER MAHASISWA PROGRAM STUDI PENDIDIKAN DOKTER UNIVERSITAS SRIWIJAYA
Medical students are in higher risk to suffer neck pain than another most population. Neck pain perception can provide and the best therapeutic intervention, that prevents loss of medical students’ productivity. This study aims to describe neck pain perception of Medical Education Study Program students at Sriwijaya University. This study is a descriptive observational which take Medical Education Study Program students at Sriwijaya University as sample. Variables studied are neck pain prevalence using Nordic Musculoskeletal Questionnaire (NMQ) and 9 dimensions of neck pain perception appraisal using Brief Illness Perception Questionnaire (IPQ-B). In general, most of Medical Education Study Program students at Sriwijaya University suffer from neck pain with prevalence of 75,4%. Neck pain affected students had perception as follow: slightly affecting life (5,4 ± 2,2), in a quite short duration (4,0 ± 2,3), having personal control over neck pain (6,5 ± 2,1), almost effective therapy (6,2 ± 2,5), moderately pain suffered (4,4 ± 2,6), not really concerned (4,3 ± 2,8), well illness coherence (5,9 ± 2,4), not psychologically affected (4,2 ± 2,7), and bad body posture considered to be the main cause of neck pain. Neck perception of Medical Education Study Program at Sriwijaya University described in cognitive representation as slightly affecting life, in a quite short duration, having personal control over neck pain, almost effective therapy, moderately pain suffered, well illness coherence, and bad body posture considered to be the main cause of neck pain. In affective (emotional) representation, students were not really concerned and not psychologically affected by neck pain.
