HUBUNGAN PERILAKU MEROKOK DENGAN STATUS IMUN BERDASARKAN IMMUNE STATUS QUESTIONNAIRE (ISQ) PADA MAHASISWA PROGRAM STUDI TEKNIK MESIN UNIVERSITAS SRIWIJAYA
Background: Indonesia is a country with the highest number of teenage smokers in the world. It was recorded that the age for the first time men tried to smoke was at the age of 12-13 years. The smoking habit in developing countries, especially Indonesia, is one of the causes of existing health problems. The death of a person due to diseases acquired because of smoking continues to increase so this study aims to see the relationship between smoking behavior that can affect the immune system. Methode: The type of this research is analytic observational with a cross sectional approach to Mechanical Engineering Study Program students in Sriwijaya University batch 2017-2019. Respondents who filled out the ISQ questionnaire in this study were 227 students with 109 smoking subjects and fulfilling the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The sampling technique used was total sampling in which all respondents who meet the inclusion and exclusion criteria are included and then analyzed using the Somers'd test to determine the relationship between variables. Results: The result of this study reveals that the most respondents who smoked are male respondents (99.1%), the highest age is 20-24 years (68.8%), the highest smoking duration is in the 1-5 year category (73.4 %), the highest classification of smokers is in the category of light daily smokers (38.5%) and there is no significant relationship between smoking duration and immunity status (p> α), and the relationship between smoking classifications and immunity status (p> α). Conclusion: There is no relationship between smoking behavior and immunity status in Mechanical Engineering Study Program students, Sriwijaya University batch 2017-2019. Keywords: Smoking, immunity status, Immune Status Questionnaire (ISQ).
