HUBUNGAN PENGETAHUAN TENTANG COVID-19 DENGAN KEPATUHAN UPAYA PENCEGAHAN (PEMAKAIAN MASKER, MENCUCI TANGAN, DAN PHYSICAL DISTANCING PADA MASYARAKAT KOTA PALEMBANG
Introduction. The COVID-19 pandemic is still occurring. Number of cases and deaths from COVID-19 continues to increase. Palembang City has reported 2,744 confirmed cases with 160 deaths in September. Special treatment for COVID-19 patients has not yet been found, so knowledge related to COVID-19 and transmission prevention measures are important for the whole community. This study aims to analyze the relationship between knowledge about COVID-19 and preventive practices (mask-wearing, hand washing, and physical distancing) in Palembang City. Methods. This study was done by analytic observasional study with cross sectional design. Respondent was taken by using purposive sampling with a total sample of 411 respondents who live in Palembang City. This research was conducted in October-November 2020 using an online questionnaire distributed via social media. The statistical test used was the chi-square. Results. The result showed that the majority of respondent had a good level of knowledge about COVID-19 (54.4%). The result of chi-square analysis showed that there are significant relationship between COVID-19 knowledge and compliance of mask-wearing (p=0,001), compliance of hand washing (p=0,004), and compliance of physical distancing (p=0,003). Conclusion. In general, the community has a good level of knowledge about COVID-19 and there are significant relationship between COVID-19 knowledge and public compliance of preventive practices (mask-wearing, hand washing, and physical distancing) in Palembang.
