Indonesia dan Belanda menjalin hubungan Kerjasama pertahanan melalui kesepakatan atas nota kesepahaman terkait kerjasama pertahanan pada tahun 2014 di Belanda. Belanda merupakan negara yang memiliki reputasi yang baik di bidang perairan dan penggalangan kapal, sehingga dipahami bahwa keputusan untuk menjalin Kerjasama dengan Belanda merupakan keputusan yang cukup relevan, tetapi terdapat hal lain yang perlu dipertanyakan tentang bagaimana ke-efektivitasan diplomasi kerjasama pertahanan dengan Belanda yang merupakan negara dengan kekuatan militer jauh dibawah Indonesia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana efektivitas diplomasi yang dilakukan oleh Indonesia dalam mencapai kepentingan pertahanan melalui kerjasama pertahanan antara negara Indonesia dan Belanda. Penelitian ini menggunakan Konsep Diplomasi Pertahanaan menurut Andrew Cottey dan Anthony Forster yang menjelaskan bahwa diplomasi pertahanan memiliki tujuan dan sasaran untuk; (a) Kerjasama strategis; (b) promosi hubungan demokratis sipil-militer dan; (c) meningkatkan kapabilitas dalam menjaga perdamaian. Metode penelitian yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa kerjasama pertahanan yang berlangsung sejak tahun 2014 berlangsung cukup efektif dengan melihat dimensi Kerjasama strategis yang berjalan cukup baik, promosi hubungan demokratis sipil-militer yang cukup baik, dan pengembangan kapabilitas dalam menjaga perdamaian berjalan dengan cukup baik.


Indonesia and Netherlands estabilished the relation of defence cooperation through an agreement on a memorandum of understanding related to defence cooperation on 2014 in Netherlands. Netherlands is a country that has a good reputation in the field of waters and shipbuilding, so it is can be understood that the decision to cooperate with Netherlands was a relevant action, but there is another thing need to be questioned about how effective the diplomacy of defence cooperation with Netherlands which is the country military strength ranked far below from Indonesia. The research aims to find out about how is the effectiveness of diplomacy that carried out by Indonesia in achieving the defence interest of Indonesia through the defence cooperation between Indonesia and Netherlands. This research used the concept of defence diplomacy according to Andrew Cottey and Anthony Forster which explains the defence diplomacy has goals and objectives for; (a) strategic engagement; (b) promoting democratic civil-military relations and; (c) enchancing the peacekeeping capabilities. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative research method. The result of this research shows that the defence cooperation that has been taking place since 2014 been effectively occurred by looking at the dimension of strategic engagement that has occurred quite effective, the promotion of democratic civil-military relation is quite effective, and the enchancment of peacekeeping capabilities is quite effective.
