The point of this research is to analyze the effect of labor productivity and efficiency to South Sumatra crumb rubber industry’s competitiveness for period 1999-2003. Technique analyze that are used were descriptive quantitative and descriptive qualitative Based on the analyze of labor productivity and efficiency effect to competitiveness, shows that.: labor productivity positively influence competitiveness if labor productivity step start from increasing return to scale, followed by constant return to scale and decreasing return to scale. Labor efficiency negatively influence competitiveness because the ratio of decreasing of the growth of South Sumatra crumb rubber export value to decreasing of the growth of South Sumatra crumb rubber total export value is bigger than the ratio of decreasing of the growth of Indonesian crumb rubber export value to decreasing of the growth of Indonesian crumb rubber total export value, that make RC A value decrease. It shows that even though efficiency grows up, competitiveness decreases because it was afTected by a lot of more other factor.
