Using english short movies to improve listening skill of the eighth grade student of SMP Negeri 26 Palembang
The objectives of this study were (1) to find out whether or not there was any significant difference in improving listening skill of the eighth grade students of SMP 26 Palembang who were taught by English Short Movies from those who were not and (2) the students’ perception toward the use of English Short Movies in learning listening skill. The method of this study was a quasi-experimental research design, non-equivalent control group design. The samples were 35 eighth grade students in the academic year 2013/2014 which were divided into two groups: experimental and control group. In order to know the effect of the treatment, test was administered twice, as the pre-test and post-test for both experimental and control group. The result of listening test was analyzed by using SPSS program. Based on the result of paired sample t-test, it was found that the value of t-obtained was 3.424 at the significance level t < 0,025, the critical of t-table was 2.023
