The correlation between self-assessment for writing andacademic writing achievement of the english education study program students of fkip unsri
The objectives of this study were to find out (1)
whether or not there is significant corellation between selfassessment and academic writing achievement, (2) what was the
contibution of self-assessment toward wrting achievement, and (3)
How much was the contribution of self-assessment to content,
organization, vocabulary, sentence fluency, and convention. The
population was the students of English Education Study Program
in FKIP of Sriwijaya University. The sample was sixth semester
that consists of 36 students who were taken by purposive sampling
technique. This study was correlational study. The data were
collected through questionnaire and writing test, and then scored
by two raters, and SPSS 21 was used in analyzing the data. The
findings showed that (1) there was a significant correllation
between self-assessment and academic writing achievement. The
r-value was about 0.645, (2) the contribution of self-assessment
toward writing achievement were 41.6%. (3) The contribution of
self-assessment toward convention was 80%, the content was
42.4%, the vocabulary was 90.0%, the organization was 73.4%
and sentence fluency was 88.1%.
