Improving recount text writing achievement of the tenth grade social science students of MAN Sakatiga Indralaya by using lightbox method
One of the problems faced by students in learning English is writing Therefore, the teachers have to find a creative strategy in order to make the students enjoyable during writing activity. In the study, Lightbox Method was applied as the strategy to improve students writing achievement. This study was experimental research method that applied time series design. The population was the tenth grade Social Scicncc students of MAN Sakatiga Indralaya in academic year 2016-2017 and 42 students were selected as the sample using convenience sampling tecImique.The experimental group was taught by using Lightbox Method. The data of this research were obtained by means of pre-test and post-test. After statistically analyzed by using paired sample t-test, the result showed that there was a significant difference in recount text writing achievement between before and after the students who were taught by using Lightbox Method (mean diff=12.857; p.value-=.00 I ). In addition, among five aspects of writing skill in writing recount text, grammar had the highest score (mean diff=1.90; p.value= .000), while the lowest score was obtained by punctuation and spelling (mean cliff— 0.67; p.valut— .000). 'Therefore, it can be concluded that Lightbox Method can help students' writing achievement.
