The objectives of this study were to find out whether or not: (1) There was a significant difference in descriptive writing achievement after the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Indralaya Utara were taught by using internet meme picture and (2) There was a significant difference in descriptive writing achievement between the students who were taught by using internet meme picture and those who were not. The samples of this study were from the tenth grade students of natural science class of SMA Negeri 1 IndralayaUtara with the total number of 64 who were divided into two groups, namely, experimental group and control group. Each group had 32 students who were chosen by purposive sampling technique. The design used in this study was quasi pretest-posttest experimental research design. To collect the data, each group was given pre-test and post-test. The data were analysed by using Paired Samples t-test and Independent Samples t-test in SPSS version 22. The results from Paired Samples t-test showed that there was a significant difference in descriptive writing achievement before and after the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Indralaya Utara were taught by using Internet Meme Picture. Since the -value was lower than 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05)it’s indicated that the null hypothesis (H01) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha1) was accepted. The result from Independent Samples t-test of the post-test in both experimental and control groups showed that there was a significant difference in descriptive writing achievement between the students who were taught by using Internet Meme Picture and those who were not as the -value was lower than 0.05 (0.000 < .05), which showed that the null hypothesis (H02) was rejected, therefore the alternative hypothesis (Ha2) was accepted. In conclusion, Internet Meme Picture was effective to be implemented in teaching English writing for the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 1Indralaya Utara.
