Using Guided Reading and Summarizing Procedure (GRASP) Method To Improve Summary Writing of the Eleventh Grade Students Of SMA Negeri 1 Tanjung Raja
This study aimed at finding out whether or not there was a significant difference in summary writing improvement before and after they were taught by using Guided Reading and Summarizing Procedure (GRASP) method. Single group pretest-posttest design was used in this study. The sample was taken by using convenience sampling; with 30 eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 1 Tanjung Raja in the academic year 2014/2015. In collecting the data, the students were given written tests (pre-test and post-test). The data were analyzed by using paired sample t-test of Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) 21 program. Based on the analysis, there was a significant mean difference between the results of pre-test and post-test with the significant level of p1.699). Therefore, it could be concluded that GRASP was effective in increasing the summary writing improvement and could be used as an alternative strategy in English Language Teaching
