Enhancing narrative writing achievement of the eleventh grade students of MAN 2 Palembang by making a picture book
This thesis aims at enhancing students’ narrative writing by making a
picture book. The population of this study was all the eleventh grade
students of MAN 2 Palembang in the academic year 2013/2014. Two
classes consisting of 46 students for each were class chosen was the
sample by using purposive sampling technique. They were divided into
two groups, the experimental and the control group. The experimental
group was given the treatments in the period of 16 meetings while the
control group was not given any treatments. The instrument used to
collect the data was writing test which was provided for both groups.
This research reveals that by making a picture book the students’
narrative writing achievement enhanced. The enhancement could be seen
from the mean of post tests of experimental group which was higher than
the mean of control group. The result of Independent Sample T-test
showed the mean difference of post tests was 29.261. It was also proven
by the value of t observed which was higher than t table. So, the null
hypothesis (H0) was rejected and alternative hypothesis (H1) was
accepted. It means that there was a significant difference in the students’
narrative writing achievement who were taught through making a picture
book and those who were not
