Using Cue-Cards to improve Speaking Achievement of the eleventh grade students of SMA negeri 5 Palembang
The purpose of this study was to find out whether or not using Cue
Cards was effective to improve speaking achievement of the
eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 5 Palembang. An
experimental study, One-Group Pretest-Posttest design, was used
in this study. The population of this study was all the eleventh
grade science students of SMA Negeri 5 Palembang in the
academic year 2012/2013. The sample of this study was one class
consisting of 32 students, as the experimental group. This group
was given treatments for 14 meetings. The speaking test was used
to collect the data. After the data were collected and analyzed, the
mean of post–test was higher than that of pre-test. The result of
paired sample t-test showed that the value of t-obtained, 18.010
(df=31, sig=0.00 two tailed) was greater than the critical value of ttable, 2.039. Therefore, the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and
alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted. It means that there was a
significant difference in speaking achievement after they were
taught by using Cue Cards. Therefore, this study provided that Cue
Cards were effective to improve speaking achievement of the
eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 5 Palembang
