Improving students’ pronunciation ability by using reading aloud strategy of the eight grade students of junior high school number 30 Palembang
The main objective of this study was to find out whether or not reading aloud strategy can improve students’ pronunciation ability. The writer used one of the quasi-experimental designs that is pretest and posttest non equivalent control group design. The population of this study comprised 197 eighth graders of SMP Negeri 30 Palembang in the academic year 2012/2013. Eighty students were chosen as the sample by using purposive sampling technique. These students were divided into two groups, the experimental group that was taught by using reading aloud strategy and the control group that was taught without reading aloud strategy but using conventional method carried out by the teacher. Each group consisted of 40 students. The data were obtained by means of pronunciation test. The tests were administered twice as the pretest and posttest. The results of the test were analyzed by using t-test through Statistical Package for Social Science Program (SPSS).
