GAMBARAN ELEKTROKARDIOGRAFI PASIEN PENYAKIT JANTUNG TIROID DI RSUP DR. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG PERIODE 2024
Thyroid heart disease is a cardiovascular disorder caused by thyroid hormone dysfunction, either hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism, and can lead to cardiac rhythm abnormalities. Electrocardiography (ECG) is a non-invasive method that plays an important role in detecting electrical activity changes of the heart in this condition. This study aimed to describe the sociodemographic characteristics and ECG findings of thyroid heart disease patients at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital, Palembang, in 2024. This research was a case series reviewing the medical records of all patients diagnosed with thyroid heart disease who underwent ECG examination from January to December 2024. Collected data included sociodemographic information and ECG findings. The analysis was descriptive, presenting frequency distributions and proportions. Most patients were 30–50 years old and predominantly female. The most common ECG findings were sinus tachycardia, followed by atrial fibrillation. Hyperthyroid patients tended to show an increased heart rate and supraventricular arrhythmias. No significant differences in ECG patterns were found based on sex, but older age groups more frequently exhibited atrial fibrillation. In conclusion, thyroid heart disease at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin General Hospital in 2024 occurred more often in women of productive age, with dominant ECG abnormalities of sinus tachycardia and atrial fibrillation. Routine ECG examination is recommended as a screening and monitoring step to prevent further cardiovascular complications.
