ASUHAN KEPERAWATAN PADA PASIEN CHRONIC KIDNEY DISEASE DAN IMPLIKASI TERAPI KOMBINASI ANKLE PUMP DAN LEG ELEVATION 30° DENGAN MASALAH KEPERAWATAN HIPERVOLEMIA DI RS DR. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG
The commones problem in Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is an excess fluid volume whichwill cause patients to suffer edema in the limbs. The edema in CKD patients occurs due to thelower albumin levels which can increase osmotic pressure in the tissues around thecapillaries. Applicable interventions to overcome hypervolemia nursing problems are acombination therapy ofankle pump and 30° leg elevation. Objective: To apply nursing careto CKD patients with a combination therapy ofankle pump and 30° leg elevation to reducethe degree of edema. Method: The method used qualitative descriptive with a case approachto 3 CKD patients. Results: The non-pharmacological intervention applied in this study wasa combination ofankle pump and leg elevation 30° therapy by having flexion and extensionmovements to be conducted for 3 seconds alternating 5-10 minutes resulting a decrease in thedegree ofedema in the lower extremities. Discussion: The ankle pump exercise therapy has amuscle pumping effect that forces extracellular fluid to enter through the blood vessels andgo back to the heart. Leg elevation is a movement to elevate the leg by utilizing gravity toincrease venous backflow and reduce pressure on blood vessels. Conclusion:Thecombination therapy of ankle pump and 30°leg elevation is effective in reducing the degreeofedema in CKD patients.
