ANALISIS KOMPARATIF KADAR PROTEIN DAUN KENIKIR (COSMOS CAUDATUS) MENGGUNAKAN METODE WARBURG-CHRISTIAN DAN BICINCHONINIC ACID ASSAY
Kenikir (Cosmos caudatus) is plant commonly used as food ingredient and traditional medicine. The method used to measure protein content of kenikir leaves in previous study was relatively unspecific. Warburg–Christian and Bicinchoninic acid assay methods can serve as alternative for measuring protein content of kenikir leaves. This study aimed to compare the protein levels of kenikir (Cosmos caudatus) leaves measured using Warburg–Christian and Bicinchoninic acid assay methods. This study was in vitro experimental study of protein using kenikir leaves extracted using salting out and dialysis methods. Protein contents of kenikir leaves were measured using Warburg–Christian and Bicinchoninic acid assay methods. Data were analyzed statistically using independent t test. Statistic independent t test result shows p value < 0,001. Mean value of protein contents of kenikir leaves measured using Warburg-Christian shows higher result than using Bicinchoninic acid assay. There was significant difference of protein content in kenikir (Cosmos caudatus) leaves measured using Warburg–Christian and Bicinchoninic acid assay.
