Introduction : As we age, a person's health condition can decline in which it makes him/her, vulnerable to various degenerative diseases such as hypertension. Management of hypertension can be carried out through pharmacological and non-pharmacological approaches. One of the non-pharmacological techniques is finger grasp relaxation therapy. Objective : To apply finger grip relaxation therapy in gerontic nursing care with hypertension. Methods : The method used in this paper is a case study approach in three elderly people with hypertension. Results : The results of the assessment was a nursing problem, ineffective peripheral perfusion. The intervention given was finger-grip relaxation applied 1 time a day for 10 minutes and repeated 3 times each day to reduce blood pressure in the three managed patients with hypertension. The results of blood pressure before being given finger-grip relaxation, in Mrs. M 160/90 mmHg, Mr. Z 175/107 mmHg, and Mrs. A 150/79 mmHg. After being given finger grip relaxation, blood pressure in Mrs. M was 139/85 mmHg, Mr. Z was 150/73 mmHg, and Mrs. A was 148/80 mmHg. Discussion : After being given finger grip relaxation therapy regularly, systolic and diastolic blood pressure decreased. Finger grip relaxation therapy was able to increase parasympathetic nerve activity and reduce sympathetic nerves as well as reducing contractions. Then, the blood vessels will experienced vasodilation resulting in a decrease in blood pressure. Conclusion : Finger grip relaxation therapy is able to reduce blood pressure in the elderly with hypertension.
