Women's empowerment is a systematic and planned effort to achieve gender equality and justice in family and community life and of course in politics. This research aims to describe the role and obstacles of the South Sumatra PDI-P DPD in caderize of female legislative candidates. By using Cook & Macaulay's (1997) concept of empowerment, this research is qualitative in nature with data collection techniques in the form of observation, in-depth interviews with informants, documentation and literature study. The results of this research show that the role of the South Sumatra PDI-P DPD caderization sector in caderizing female legislative candidates is by providing training and carrying out recruitment. Then, the obstacles in the caderize field of the South Sumatra PDI-P DPD cadre in caderizing female legislative candidates are cultural and individual factors.
