Background: Work accidents or work-related accidents are unplanned and uncontrolled events resulting from an action or reaction of an object, material, person, or radiation that results in physical injury or other possible consequences. Physical injury that occurs to the patient causes pain in the patient. Hand massage is a massage that involves applying gentle pressure to the back of the hand that can reduce or eliminate pain because it causes a relaxing effect. Objective: To carry out nursing care using distraction techniques to patients experiencing pain with hand massage intervention. Method: The method used is descriptive research with a case study approach to 3 patients. Results: In the three patients who were given hand massage, there was a decrease in the pain scale as measured using the numeric rating scale (NRS). Discussion: Hand massage has an important role in reducing pain by providing massage sensation stimulus so that endorphin hormones, serotonin hormones, and dopamine hormones increase, with the increase in these hormones so that sympathetic nerve activity decreases and the client's body feels more relaxed. Conclusion: The hand massage intervention carried out can reduce the pain scale score so that it can be used as a distraction technique for patients with pain.
