ASUHAN KEPERAWATAN PADA PASIEN DENGAN SESAK NAPAS TUBERKULOSIS PARU DAN INTERVENSI PEMBERIAN AROMATERAPI PEPPERMINT DI RUANGAN RAWAT INAP RS DR. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG
Introduction: Mycobacterium tuberculosis is a bacteria that is the main cause of infectious disease, namely pulmonary tuberculosis. One of the impacts that pulmonary tuberculosis will cause is shortness of breath, so nursing action is needed to overcome this problem. The action given is in the form of a collaboration of providing analgesics combined with providing non-pharmacological therapy, one of which is peppermint aromatherapy. Aim: Implementing nursing care for pulmonary tuberculosis patients to carry out airway management using peppermint aromatherapy therapy to treat shortness of breath according to evidence based. Method: The method used was qualitative research with a case study approach to 3 pulmonary tuberculosisi patients. Results: There were 4 nursing problems that were established in Pulmonary Tuberculosis patients, and the main nursing problem was found to be ineffective breathing patterns. The non-pharmacological intervention given to reduce shortness of breath in this case study was peppermint aromatherapy therapy for 10-15 minutes, and a reduction in respiratory rate was found. Discussion: Carrying out peppermint aromatherapy therapy can reduce shortness of breath because it will have an effect by loosening the bronchi so that it will make breathing easier. One of the ingredients contained in mint leaves is menthol which has calming properties, so it opens the respiratory tract and can reduce shortness of breath. Conclusion: Peppermint aromatherapy therapy is effective in reducing shortness of breath experienced by pulmonary tuberculosis patients.
