Background: Schizophrenia is a chronic severe mental disorder that significanly impairs a person's ability to function, character by the presence of psychotic symptoms. A key issue in schizophrenia is impaired sensory preception, which often involves hallucinations. One approach to managing sensory preception disturbances, particulary hallucinations, is through drawing based occupational therapy. Objective: To find out the effectiveness of drawing occupational therapy in controlling hallucinations and alleviating sensory peception disorders. Methods: The study employs a descriptive qualitative design with a case study appoarch, focusing on three patiens diagnosed with schizophrenia. Results: The results of the assessment obtained the main nursing problem in the three managed patients were sensory preception disorders. The intervention given to overcome this problem is through drawing occupational therapy. It was carried out for three consecutive days resulting in reduced signs and symptoms of hallucinations among the patients. They were more excited, starting to mingle, not withdrawing, starting to talk to others, being able to maintain eye contact, and actively participating in activities in the cempaka room. There was also a reduction in the frequency, durationn, and intensity of hallucinations, as well as more positive responses toward these episodes. Discussion: Change to the sign and symptoms of hallucinations occur because drawing activities allow patinets to express their thoughts, feelings, and emotions easily through drawing activities so as to reduce anxiety, anger, or irregular emotions, increase motor activity that minimizes interaction with their own wolrd, and provide entertaiment and motivation, enabling patients to shift their attention away from hallucinations. Conclusion: Drawing occupational therapy can be used as one of the non-pharmacological therapies to reduce the signs and symtomps of the hallucinations in patients with schizophrenia in overcoming sensory perception disorders.
