STRATEGI INDONESIA TERHADAP PERLUASAN PASAR PERIKANAN KE NEGARA ANGGOTA EUROPEAN FREE TRADE ASSOCIATION (EFTA) TAHUN 2018 – 2023
Indonesia is known as an archipelagic country with abundant wealth from fisheries, which holds significant economic potential. This potential is broadly implemented through the expansion of Indonesian fisheries markets to foreign countries, where the level of imports is relatively high. One of the regions with the highest imports of fisheries products is Europe. However, efforts to expand into Europe face several challenges, such as high tariff and non- tariff barriers. To overcome these barriers, the expansion of the fisheries market to Europe is being pursued by utilizing the Indonesia - EFTA Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IE-CEPA) in 2018, which provides for tariff elimination and facilitates overcoming non-tariff barriers in exports to the European Free Trade Association (EFTA) countries. According to the Indonesian Ministry of Trade, this agreement could serve as a gateway for entering the European market. The approach used in analyzing this market expansion employs the Market Penetration Theory by Bukoye and Muritala (2023) to assess Indonesia's success in expanding its fisheries market to EFTA countries. The research results indicate Indonesia's success in expanding its fisheries market by implementing all four strategies from the market penetration theory, as evidenced by the presence and support for Indonesian fisheries exporters in the fisheries market flow to EFTA countries during the 2018-2023 period.
