Background. Urinary tract infection (UTI) is a common health problem among females and is strongly influenced by genital hygiene. Lack of knowledge and poor personal hygiene practices, especially among adolescent girls, can increase the risk of developing UTIs. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge of genital hygiene and UTI prevention behavior among adolescents at SMAN 1 Pemulutan. Methods. This study employed an analytical observational method with a cross-sectional design. A total of 131 female students at SMAN 1 Pemulutan participated as respondents. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire that included aspects of knowledge and behavior related to UTI prevention. Data were analyzed using SPSS software through univariate and bivariate descriptive statistical methods to describe respondent characteristics and to assess the relationship between the level of knowledge and UTI prevention behavior. Results. The results showed that 56 respondents (42.7%) had a “moderate” level of genital hygiene knowledge, and 56 respondents (42.7%) also demonstrated a “moderate” level of UTI prevention behavior. Statistical analysis revealed a significant relationship between genital hygiene knowledge and UTI prevention behavior, with a p-value of 0.000. Conclusion. In conclusion, the higher the level of knowledge about genital hygiene, the better the UTI prevention behavior among adolescent girls. Therefore, improving education and health promotion related to personal hygiene is essential to reduce the risk of UTI among adolescents.
