Schizophrenia is a serious brain disease that causes a person's behavior to become strange and requires treatment and care over a long period of time. The main problem that can trigger relapse in schizophrenia patients is non-compliance with treatment. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge and family support and medication adherence in schizophrenia patients. This type of research is quantitative correlational research with a cross sectional research design. The population in this study was the closest family who lived in the same house and helped care for schizophrenia patients at home. The research sample consisted of 59 respondents using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using questionnaires on family knowledge, family support, and medication adherence in schizophrenia patients. Statistical analysis in this study used the Spearman's rho test with a p value < 0.05. The statistical test results showed that the value of family knowledge (p value 0. 000) with a Correlation Coefficient value (r 0.794) and family support (p value 0.000) with a Correlation Coeficient value (r 0.513) so that it can be stated that there is a significant relationship between knowledge and family support and compliance taking medication for schizophrenia patients. The results of this study indicate that respondents with insufficient family knowledge and sufficient family support influence low medication adherence in schizophrenia patients. Suggestions for health workers are expected to provide education about the importance of compliance with taking medication, so that they can increase the role of the family so that they always provide support and attention in preventing relapse in schizophrenia patients.
