The phenomenon of fatherlessness, or the lack of involvement of fathers in children's development, is a growing concern in various countries, including Indonesia. This condition can arise from divorce, the death of a father, or an imbalance in parenting roles. The impact on adolescents is significant, including loneliness, depression, low self-esteem, and deviant behavior. This study aims to determine the factors associated with fatherlessness among adolescents at SMK Negeri 1 Indralaya Utara. The study used a quantitative cross-sectional approach, with 87 students selected using stratified random sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire on factors related to fatherlessness and the Inventory of Father Involvement (IFI), which has been tested for validity and reliability. Analysis was performed using chi-square tests and fisher's exact test. The results showed a significant relationship between maternal control in the parenting role, the distribution of family power, and divorce with the incidence of fatherlessness (p≤0,05). Meanwhile, socioeconomic status, gender, number of children, family type, and paternal death were not significantly related to the incidence of fatherlessness (p>0,05). These findings suggest that dominance of maternal control in the parenting role, unequal distribution of family power, and divorce contribute to the increasing incidence of fatherlessness. Therefore, family support is needed to create an equal and collaborative parenting pattern between fathers and mothers, including maintaining the paternal involvement in parenting even after divorce, so that the father's role remains optimal in supporting the child's development.
