This study focuses on tempeh artisans' decision-making in managing tempeh waste using a wastewater treatment plant (IPAL) on Jalan Asia, Plaju District, Palembang City. This study aims to describe the decision-making process of tempeh producers in managing tempeh waste using IPAL on Jalan Asia by describing the decision-making process of tempeh producers in managing tempeh waste using IPAL at each stage and analyzing the internal and external factors underlying the decision-making process of tempeh producers in managing tempeh waste using IPAL. The research method used was qualitative with a research strategy through a phenomenological approach. The results of the study show that the decision-making process consists of three stages, namely knowledge as the basis for decision-making, deliberation in deciding on the use of IPAL, and the final decision to use IPAL. The internal factors underlying these decisions include motivation in using IPAL, the personality type of tempeh craftsmen, general understanding of IPAL, and the perception of IPAL as a solution. Meanwhile, external factors also reinforce these decisions, including the quality and ease of use of IPAL, the existence of social support from various parties such as family support, community support, and support from the surrounding community, and social values that influence the attitudes of tempeh craftsmen.
