Applying the principles of good zakat governance in the zakat management process will make muzakki increasingly confident that the Zakat Management Unit really exists to oversee muzakki in paying zakat. This research aims to analyze the principles of good zakat governance in order to improve zakat distribution effectively and efficiently through the Zakat Management Unit (UPZ). This research uses a qualitative method approach by means of in-depth direct interviews. The sampling technique was purposive sampling technique. The object of this research is the Zakat Management Unit in Belitang Jaya District and uses primary and secondary data. The research results show that the Zakat Management Unit in Belitang Jaya District has not fully implemented the principles of Good Zakat Governance and the management process is still manual and simple. This is also in line with the Sharia Enterprise Theory which views that the Zakat Management Unit is given the right to manage well and be accountable for every action taken in managing zakat so that it can increase the effectiveness and efficiency of zakat management.
