HUBUNGAN ANTARA NILAI ANKLE-BRACHIAL INDEX DENGAN DERAJAT ULKUS DIABETIKUM PADA PENDERITA DIABETES MELITUS TIPE 2 DI RS MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG
Background: Diabetic ulcers are a serious complication of diabetes that commonly occur, especially in patients with poor glycemic control, neuropathy, and vascular disease. The Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) is a non-invasive method used to assess the severity of ulcers. This study aims to analyze the relationship between ABI and the severity of diabetic ulcers in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients at Mohammad Hoesin Hospital, Palembang. Methods: This study used an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach, involving 40 samples that met the inclusion criteria. The data collected included sociodemographic characteristics, ABI values, and the severity of diabetic ulcers. The research period is from August 5 to September 30, 2024. Results: Among the 40 respondents, the majority were elderly (57.5%), female (52.5%), had normal nutritional status (55%), a history of diabetes mellitus for more than 10 years (50%), no active smoking history (65%), no history of hypercholesterolemia (65%), a history of hypertension (62.5%), abnormal ABI value (60%), and grade 2 ulcer severity (30%). In the bivariate analysis, a significant relationship was found between ABI values and the severity of diabetic ulcers (p=0.000), and a significant relationship was found between the severity of diabetic ulcers and age (p=0.030), gender (p=0.044), and smoking history (p=0.005). Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between ABI values and the severity of diabetic ulcers in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients at Mohammad Hoesin Hospital, Palembang, during the period of 5 August – 30 September 2024.
