PERAN ASEAN DALAM MENGHADAPI ANCAMAN THE GOLDEN TRIANGLE DALAM DRUG TRAFFICKING DI WILAYAH ASIA TENGGARA
This research explores how ASEAN plays a role in tackling the threat of narcotics trafficking from the Golden Triangle, an area that includes Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand For years, this region has been one of the world's major drug-producing centers, creating challenges not only for Southeast Asia but also for other regions beyond. To analyze this issue, the study draws on Clive Archer's framework on the role of international organizations, which looks at three kry aspects instruments, arenas, and actors. The research is based on secondary data, mainly through library research. The result of the research show that ASEAN's response to the Golden Triangle can be seen across these three aspects. In terms of instruments, ASEAN has developed a framework known as the ASEAN Regional Policy and Strategy in the Prevention and Control of Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. As an arena, ASEAN provides platforms such as the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Transnational Crime (AMMTC) to discuss and coordinate efforts. Finally, as an actor, ASEAN takes concrete steps through joint operations like the Safe Mekong Operation. Keywords: ASEAN, Golden Triangle, Role of International Organizations
