KEPADATAN POPULASI DAN KARAKTER MORFOMETRIK REMIS (Corbicula sp.) DI SUNGAI BORANG KECAMATAN BANYUASIN I KABUPATEN BANYUASIN PROVINSI SUMATERA SELATAN.
Remis (Corbicula sp.) is a type of freshwater clam commonly consumed by communities around the Borang River as a source of protein. It is also a benthic organism often used as a bioindicator of environmental quality. The relatively sedentary nature of remis, along with its long lifespan, allows it to record the quality of its surrounding environment. This study aims to determine the population density of remis, examine the differences in morphometric characteristics, and analyze the correlations among length, width, thickness, and shell weight of remis. Sampling was conducted in the Borang River, Banyuasin I District, Banyuasin Regency, South Sumatra Province. The research was carried out in the Biosystematics Laboratory, Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Sriwijaya University, from November 2023 to June 2024. The data analysis methods used in this study include population density analysis, morphometric analysis, correlation analysis of morphometric parameters of remis and correlation analysis of substrate texture between morphometric parameters of remis. The results showed that the population density of remis in the Borang River at the 4 research stations ranged from 125 to 403 individuals/m². The highest average morphometric values (length, width, thickness, and weight of shells) were found at station I, while the lowest were at station III. The correlation analysis of all measured morphometric parameters of remis indicated a negative allometric relationship and a very strong correlation.
