PENGARUH KANDUNGAN Fe DALAM Fe/C TERHADAP SIFAT PRODUK HYDROCRACKING BATUBARA LIGNITE
Fossil-based fuels such as petroleum remain the primary energy source in Indonesia, particularly in the transportation sector. Continuous economic growth has led to increased consumption of these fuels. Coal is used as an alternative energy source. The purpose of this research is to develop a method for improving the quality of lignite coal through pyrolysis and hydrocracking processes, thereby increasing the efficiency of coal utilization as an energy source in Indonesia. The hydrocracking process was carried out using an Fe/C catalyst with temperature variations of 700°C and 800°C. Acidity tests were performed on catalyst characterization, while product analysis included specific gravity, calorific value, and GCMS. The results of the study showed that the characterization of adsorption acidity increased in total acidity with an acidity value on activated carbon of 5.9434 mmol/g, FeO/C of 7.2831 mmol/g, and Fe/C of 8.2617 mmol/g and the results of surface adsorption acidity with pyridine activated carbon of 0.0744 mmol/g, FeO/C of 0.1884 mmol/g, and Fe/C of 0.5382 mmol/g. The results of the catalyst weight variation of 5% were 0.74 g/mL, 10% were 0.7928 g/mL, 15% were 1.0995 g/mL, 20% were 1.3074 g/mL, and at 25% variations were 1.4423 g/mL. The results of the influence of oil weight on the weight of hydrocracking products at a temperature of 700°C obtained results of 3.0424 g and a temperature of 800°C obtained results of 3.2406 g. The results of the analysis of liquid products using GC-MS obtained dominant compounds of phenol, cyclic compounds and other derivative compounds.
