PEMANFAATAN BIOCHAR AMPAS TEBU UNTUK PERTUMBUHAN DAN HASIL TANAMAN CABAI RAWIT (Capsicum frutescens L.)
Chilli peppers is one of the important vegetable crop widely cultivated in Indonesia. Chili pepper production in Indonesia is insufficient to meet the demand. One way to increase crop production is by using sugarcane bagasse biochar fertilizer. The research aims to determine the optimal dosage for the morphological growth and yield of chili pepper plants. This research was conducted at Agro Training Center (ATC) Sriwijaya University, North Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir Regency, South Sumatra Province with coordinates 3o13’21.9” South Latitude, 104o38’48.6 East Longitude. The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of bagasse biochar on the growth of chilli pepper. The research method used was a randomized block design (RBD) consisting of 7 biochar concentration treatments and 4 replications so that there were 28 experimental units. Each experimental unit consisted of 4 plants, so the total number of plants was 112. Each experimental unit was taken 2 sample plants so that the sample plants were 56 plants. P0: control or without bagasse biochar fertilizer P1: 35g/bagasse biochar polybag, P2: 45g/bagasse biochar polybag, P3: 55g/bagasse biochar polybag, P4: 65/bagasse biochar polybag P5: 75g/polybag of bagasse biochar, and P6: 85g/polybag of bagasse biochar. The parameters observed consisted of plant height, stem diameter, number of fruits per plant, fruit weight per plant, fruit length, fruit diameter, root length, fresh leaf weight, fresh stem weight, fresh root weight, dry leaf weight, dry stem weight, dry root weight. Based on the results of the study, it showed no significant effect on all growth parameters of chilli pepper. Keywords : Biochar, Capsicum frutescens L., Growth parameters
