This study aims to find out the role of the South Sumatera Government in public diplomacy through the 2013 Islamic Solidarity Games in Palembang City. The Islamic Solidarity Games were designed in 1981 by member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. The 3rd Islamic Solidarity Games in 2013 was held in Palembang City, Which made Palembang City have to build the country’s image in strengthening relations with Islamic countries in the world. This study uses a qualitative method. This study explains the role of the South Sumatera Government in the Islamic Solidarity Games activities held in Palembang City, through the concept of public diplomacy which is divided into three main parts, namely Advocacy, Cultural Diplomacy and International Broadcasting. Through the use of this concept, answers to this study question are obtained. Through the use of the Advocacy concept, the Government carries out campaign and petition activities. Concept of Cultural Diplomacy the Government promotes culture by performing the Gending Sriwijaya dance and promoting this activity through “Perahu Ketek”. The final concept is that the International Broadcasting Government collaborates with interational television broadcasters.
